The design of the shop speaks to the ‘agri’ culture of field production – in the case of wine its ‘terroir’. This is reflected in an earthy pallet of materials and colours: a red concrete floor, limestone and timber furniture, and a background of rough textured wall surfaces.
The atmosphere of the shop is enhanced through a layered approach to lighting, designed in collaboration with PS Lab. Gentle illumination of the wall surfaces and bottles exploits the luminous potential of the wines and spirits while almost imperceptible overhead fixtures make the objects in the space glow.
The character and function of the mezzanine differ from that of the ground floor, objects with strongly abstract forms and contrasting colours, and furniture produced by Local Industries, provide a resonant space for events and for the activities of the online business.
